Shoulder dislocation surgery, also known as arthroscopic Bankart repair, is a surgical procedure performed to correct instability in the shoulder joint. This operation is typically done arthroscopically and is called Bankart repair.

Bankart repair is performed to repair damage to the labrum, a cartilage tissue located in the front of the shoulder joint. The labrum is a structure that surrounds the outer part of the shoulder joint capsule and attaches the joint capsule to the joint socket. In cases of shoulder dislocation, the labrum is often torn or damaged. Bankart repair is done to repair these tears and restore stability to the shoulder joint.

Arthroscopic Bankart repair is performed using a minimally invasive surgical technique called arthroscopy. This allows the surgeon to visualize and repair the inside of the joint using a camera and small surgical instruments. This method typically results in faster recovery times, less pain, and less tissue damage.

Shoulder dislocation surgery is an effective method to restore the stability and function of the shoulder and often helps prevent recurrent shoulder dislocations.
